Aidan (played by Shayne Ward) will take his own life next week on Coronation Street.
The Underworld owner has been silently struggling with his mental health for months.
And he comes to the false conclusion the world would be better without him – but he doesn’t realise the devastation it will cause for his family.
Before he ends his life, Aidan pays a visit to his loved ones as a means of saying goodbye.
He heads straight to his dad’s house to give him a leaving present before he goes to Spain.
Johnny (Richard Hawley) is delighted to receive a golf pass for his new home and can’t thank Aidan enough.
The beaming father says goodbye to his son, not realising that will be the last time he sees him in private.
After a boozy party at the Rovers’ Return, the Connor family all head their separate ways.
And it is then Aidan takes his own life – no suicide scenes will be shown on screen.
Tragically for audiences, it is Johnny who discovers the body.
The impact of seeing such a horrendous sight sends Johnny into immense grief as he struggles to cope with the loss of his son.
The coming weeks on Coronation Street will further explore the impact suicide has on a family.
Catherine Tyldesley, who plays Aidan’s ex Eva Price, has since opened up on the shocking scenes.
She explained how Eva immediately feels guilt following Aidan’s death.
The 34-year-old actress said: “I am 100% behind this storyline and I understand why the programme wanted to do it with Aidan.”
“Aidan is so loved and it appears everything is going well for him and on the surface he is happy.
“I believe this is what happens and it can be very hard to spot the signs someone is struggling to the extent they are considering suicide.
“I feel it is important to highlight in this way, because I really don’t think it is talked about enough at all.
“Men do not talk as much as they should and this shows in the figures of the number of men who tragically have taken their own life,” Catherine explained.
Coronation Street airs Aidan’s final scenes tomorrow on ITV from 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
