Lee, 34, joined the soap in 2017 and made his first appearance on April 18.
The character was involved in various storylines while in Albert Square and was mainly linked with Mick Carter (played by Danny Dyer) and the rest of the Carter family.
Gaining a job as a barman at the Queen Vic, Woody was involved in the sale of the freehold to Weyland & Co.
He made his EastEnders exit shortly after joining on May 19.
However, he returned a month later in June 2017 and announced that he and Whitney (Shona McGarty) were engaged.
Woody was then offered a job in Spain as a barman and decided to accept.
Worrying about breaking the news to his fiancée, Woody and Whitney initially argued before she eventually agreed – believing that he would return.
He later left a note saying that Whitney would be better in Walford and without him, and that he has left without her.
An EastEnders spokesperson confirmed Lee’s exit from the soap.
They said: “We can confirm that Lee will be leaving EastEnders when his storyline concludes this spring.”
Fans of the show took to social media following the announcement.
One viewer tweeted: “I can’t pretend and say I’m gutted to see lee Ryan leave #EastEnders because I’d be lying!
“His Character was boosted to be a BIG character with big storylines! & that just failed! – Good Luck for the future Lee.”
Another posted: “I mean, I thought Lee Ryan left a while ago. #eastenders.”
A third added: “I’m not bothered by lee Ryan leaving eastenders he’s ok but I wouldn’t cry over it!”
“Aw I kinda liked him but prefer Halfway hope he’s on his way back #EastEnders,” wrote a fourth.
